Jan was the 31-year-old man I dated earlier this year. He was diagnosed with cancer and left by his wife, and all he wanted was to fall in love again. Twenty-four hours before he died, he told me he loved me. I said it back as I said goodbye. I’m heartbroken but grateful for our short time.
